Two Tragically Killed in a I-20 Westbound Truck Accident in Columbia County, Georgia
COLUMBIA COUNTY, GEORGIA - A news report published on wjbf.com reports that the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a fatal truck accident along I-20 Westbound at Mile Marker 178 in Columbia County, Georgia.*
According to the report, a pickup truck purportedly rear-ended a semi-tractor-trailer truck. The pickup truck driver, a 36-year-old man, was said to be driving while under the influence of drugs.
The Columbia County Coroner’s Office reported that the tragic accident killed two people. The names of the victims were not made public. However, the news report stated that one victim is from North Carolina and the other is from Florida.
The pickup truck driver was arrested and booked into Columbia County Detention Center. He is currently facing two charges of Homicide by Vehicle, one charge of Following Too Closely, one charge of Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, and one count of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
