63-year-old Clarkesville Man Tragically Killed in Rabun County, Georgia

GEORGIA - A news article published on nowhabersham.com reports that a motor vehicle accident in Rabun County tragically killed a man from Clarkesville, Georgia.*

The severe motor vehicle accident also injured his passenger.  The Georgia State Patrol identified the driver who passed away as a 63-year-old man from Clarkesville.  

At around 10:30 PM last Saturday, Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa, Georgia, was directed to investigate the fatal accident. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was heading southbound on GA 197 in his Chevrolet GMT truck.  At some point, the vehicle left the roadway and the driver attempted to correct the vehicle.  However, the truck overturned and went down an embankment.  The driver was declared deceased on the accident scene.

A 45-year-old man from Hiawassee was a passenger in the truck.  He was seriously injured, and EMS took him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.  The accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
