Tragic, Fatal Car Accident on GA 365 in Habersham County, Georgia

The two victims were fatally injured when their van was T-boned while trying to cross GA 365 at Mt. Zion Road. The van had three other family members in the vehicle. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 6 PM along GA 365 South.
Family members of the victims stated that the a nephew in the family and an aunt tragically passed away. The van accident also injured the victim's mother, infant brother, and another relative.
Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black confirmed that a 9-month-old infant survived the accident and was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for medical treatment. EMS took the driver and her injured family to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia. The driver's sister and nephew were tragically pronounced deceased.
The driver of the van and his passenger were injured, according to the Georgia State Patrol. However, EMS did not take the men to the hospital.
The fatal accident closed down the southbound traffic lanes of GA 365 for three hours. The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is helping with the accident investigation. Georgia State Troopers reported that criminal charges are pending in the case.
