Double Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Lake County, Florida

October 24, 2021

LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA - A news report published on clickorlando.com states that Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are looking for a hit-and-run driver.* The hit-and-run driver's car is described as a red car, possibly a Hyundai.  The double fatal accident occurred at around 6:10 in the evening in the area of Wekiva Pines Boulevard and State Road 46 in Lake County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the red car was traveling west on State Road 46, and a 22-year-old man from Orlando was operating a car eastbound along State Road 46.  At that moment, a 59-year-old woman from Eustis was heading westbound on State Road 46.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers stated that the area is currently under construction and is designated as a no-passing zone.

According to the investigating law enforcement officers, the driver of the red sedan traveled over the double yellow lines and into the eastbound lanes.  The red car's driver was trying to pass numerous westbound vehicles.

The 22-year-old man from Orlando overcorrected and crossed over into the westbound traffic lanes.  The man's car struck the Eustis woman's vehicle head-on, according to troopers.

Florida Highway Patrol stated that the red car also struck the side of the Eustis woman's car.

Law enforcement officers reported that the Eustis woman was killed in the accident.

A 19-year-old woman who was an occupant in the motor vehicle of the Orlando man was tragically killed in the crash. The Orlando man suffered severe injuries in the accident.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers also reported that the red sedan might have some damage to the driver's side and black transfer paint. Anyone who has information about the accident and the vehicle is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
