Two Drivers Tragically Killed in a Head-on Collision Along State Road A1A in St. Johns County

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident report states that a van was heading south on State Road A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach. The driver heading southbound crossed into the northbound traffic lane and collided head-on with an oncoming SUV.
The head-on collision occurred at about 1:30 in the morning. Both drivers tragically passed away at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported that a Ford Transit van driver was heading northbound on State Road A1A. The accident victim, a 42-year-old male from Massillon, Ohio, and the driver of a Honda Element, a 29-year-old man from Atlantic Beach, sustained life-threatening injuries.
According to a resident from the area, he has had some close calls on State Road A1A, and the area is dangerous when drivers are not paying attention. The resident stated that if a driver looks at their cellphone or if they are distracted with something else for just a moment, and then they cross the centerline at 60 miles an hour, it's a serious accident waiting to happen.
