Tragic, Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Winter Haven, Florida

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred at Thornhill Road and Spirit Lake Road at approximately 3:30 AM.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office reported that the victim, a 40-year-old man from Eagle Lake, was operating a Ford F150 pickup truck northbound on Spirit Lake Road when he tried to turn left on Thornhill Road. The Ford F150 pickup truck driver turned in front of the motorcyclist who was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The Sheriff's deputies stated that the Ford F-150 driver did not see the Harley Davidson motorcycle approaching. The trooper stated that both drivers were approaching an intersection and had a green light. However, the pickup truck driver failed to see the oncoming motorcycle and took a left turn into the biker's path, causing an accident.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office stated the intersection was shut down for three hours and the motorcycle accident investigation is ongoing. No further details or criminal charges filed were reported at this time.
