Severe Head-On Collision on U.S. 129/Cleveland Highway in White County, Georgia
GEORGIA - A news story published on nowhabersham.com states that four people were severely injured in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 129/Cleveland Highway in White County, Georgia.* The severe accident closed down U.S. Highway 129 for several hours in the evening. A mother and her two kids and the pickup truck driver who allegedly caused the accident were all injured.
According to the news report, the head-on collision occurred at around 6 p.m. and north of Marvin Miles Road. Georgia State Patrol Post 6 trooper from Gainesville answered the call.
Georgia State Patrol Troopers reported that the truck driver, a man from Cleveland, was heading northbound in a Chevrolet Silverado and crossed the highway's centerline. The pickup truck then collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe that was heading in the opposite direction. That SUV was being operated by the 38-year-old mother.
According to the Georgia Highway Patrol troopers, the teen girl was sitting in the front passenger seat, and she suffered serious injuries. Emergency rescue crews took the girl to Children's Hospital of Atlanta. The two-year-old child who was riding in the back seat suffered a minor injury to his head. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. EMS took all three to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for medical treatment.
One state trooper who is investigating the accident stated that the pickup truck driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, and alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The truck driver was charged with failure to maintain lane.
