Two Men Tragically Killed in a Head-On Accident on SR 64 in Manatee County, Florida

MANATEE COUNTY, FLORIDA - A news report published on Bradenton.com states that the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that happened at around 5:13 in the evening along State Road 64.*  The crash occurred near the highway's intersection with S.W. Oak Point Drive.  

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 29-year-old man from Sarasota was operating a Honda Civic in the eastbound traffic lane of S.R. 64.  As the Honda driver approached Oak Point Drive, a 54-year-old man from Wauchula man was heading westbound in a Dodge SUV. Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported that the man from Sarasota tried to drive around a left-hand curve in the road when his vehicle crossed into the other traffic lane, and his Honda struck the front left of the Dodge SUV. The accident propelled both motor vehicles across the road.

Firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident to discover both men tragically passed away in the head-on collision.  The westbound traffic lane of S.R. 64 was partly blocked as emergency rescue crews managed the crash scene.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers began their accident investigation and gathered evidence for their accident report. The accident is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
