Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-80 in Hamilton County, Nebraska

HAMILTON COUNTY, NEBRASKA - A news report published on 1011now.com states that a multi-vehicle accident on I-80 stopped traffic flow between Hampton and Henderson.*

According to Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy, the  911 call center started receiving emergency phone calls at around 9:30 AM. The callers reported that accident at around Mile Marker 340, about one mile from the Henderson interchange.

Road construction was being finished when the accident happened. 

Hamilton County Sheriff McCoy stated that a motor vehicle rear-ended another automobile.  The automobile then was struck by a third motor vehicle, and then a semi tractor-trailer truck failed to stop before hitting two additional vehicles behind the initial crash.

Two motor vehicles were pushed onto the median, three vehicles remained in the westbound traffic lane, and the semi tractor-trailer truck then ended up crossing over the eastbound lanes.  Traffic was backed all the way up to the Henderson exit.  I-80 Westbound was shut down for about a half-hour, while eastbound lanes were closed for about an hour.

Sheriff McCoy reported that three people were transported to the hospital for accident-related injuries.  They were treated and released.
