Tragic, Fatal Mid-Morning Accident in Thomasville, Georgia

THOMASVILLE, GEORGIA - A news article published on timesenterprise.com reports that the Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating a fatal automobile accident last Monday morning.*  Thomasville Police Department officers reported that a motor vehicle struck a pole and then flipped over.  The crash left the victim in critical medical condition.  

Witnesses state that they saw the motor vehicle was traveling along South Madison Street when the vehicle abruptly struck a telephone pole and then flipped over several times before coming to a stop. 

According to a Thomasville resident, she heard the impact, ran to a window, and saw the vehicle flipping over.  

Another witness, a Flowers Food employee, stated that the impact from the auto accident sounded like a cannon.  He also witnessed the whole accident while he was on his break.  He states that he saw a man lying face down and bleeding from his mouth.

Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander, Toby Knifer, reported that witnesses also observed the car speeding through the area before the accident into the telephone pole.  

The victim was ejected from his car during the crash.  He was taken to Archbold Memorial Hospital, where the victim was tragically pronounced dead at 11:00 AM. The victim's name has been withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.

The hospital took the victim's blood sample, which was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab. No one else was hurt in the crash.
