Fifteen People Tragically Killed in Labor Day Weekend Accidents

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a three-vehicle accident tragically killed three teenagers and hurt two more people in northwest Georgia.
In a separate accident that occurred at 9 PM last Friday, Georgia State Patrol troopers were called in to investigate the fatal accident along GA Highway 3 and Haig Mill Lake Road in Dalton, Georgia. Accident investigators believe a Ford Fusion driver crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic. The Ford Fusion collided head-on with a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The head-on collision pushed the Ford Fusion into a Ford Taurus, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Two occupants in the Ford Fusion, an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old female, were tragically killed in the accident. Investigators reported that the 19-year-old driver was flown to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she also passed away from her accident-related injuries. The head-on accident injuries to the other two drivers were described as non-life-threatening.
Georgia State Patrol troopers stated that they have responded to accidents throughout the state of Georgia, including Villa Rica, Thomasville, LaGrange, Americus, Blue Ridge, and Gainesville. According to the Georgia State Patrol, there were fatal accidents reported in Athens, Atlanta, and Henry County.
In 2020, there were 21 people tragically killed during the three-day Labor Day weekend.
