Law enforcement authorities charged a man from Clayton, Georiga, with Driving Under the Influence and First-Degree Vehicular Homicide in the tragic fatality of a Rabun County Sheriff's Office employee.
The two-car accident occurred on U.S. 441/GA 15 tragically killed a 26-year-old woman from Clayton, Georiga.
According to a Georgia State Patrol accident report, a 41-year-old man was driving his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck northbound along with GA 15 when he crossed over into the southbound lane. The alleged drunk driver's Silverado collided head-on with the Toyota Tacoma the victim was driving. The crash occurred at around 7 PM.
According to Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Commander Donnie Sadler, the investigation determined the Silverado's driver was under the influence.
The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team has been assisting in the accident investigation. The fatal accident closed down the highway by the accident scene.
