Pedestrian Accident on I-20 Eastbound in DeKalb County, Georgia

DEKALB COUNTY, GEORGIA - A news report published on 11alive.com states that a pedestrian was tragically killed in a collision with a motor vehicle in DeKalb County, Georiga.*  The collision occurred along I-20 eastbound in DeKalb County, Georgia.  The Georgia Department of Transportation stated that the crash happened by Panola Road.

The Georgia Department of Transportation called the accident "major" and reported that the accident occurred on Interstate 20 eastbound at approximately 8:45 in the morning.  The agency stated that the fatal accident involved a pedestrian and a sport utility vehicle.   

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, all traffic lanes were blocked.  All motorists were diverted to Exit 71 at Panola Road.  Drivers were urged to use alternate routes or permit extra time for travel while crews worked to reopen the road. 

The Georgia Department of Transportation did not state if anyone else was hurt.  The DeKalb County Police Department stated that their police officers worked on the incident, but the information about the accident was "extremely limited at this time."
