Richmond County Sheriff's Deputy Killed in Tragic Head-on Collision on Mike Padgett Highway

The report states that a 34-year-old woman from Henry Circle was heading northbound along Highway 56. At that moment, a Richmond County deputy was heading southbound along Highway 56. The Richmond County Sheriff's deputy was responding to an emergency when the woman turned left and in front of the deputy's cruiser.
The Richmond County deputy was taken to Augusta University Medical Center. Tragically he was pronounced dead at 9:15 that evening.
