Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident on I-20 in Augusta, Georgia
AUGUSTA, GEORGIA - A news report posted on augustachronicle.com reports that a South Carolina man was tragically killed in an I-20 motor vehicle accident along Interstate 20.*
The 73-year-old driver was tragically pronounced dead A.U. Medical Center at around 2:00 PM last Sunday. The man was transported to a local area hospital. The fatal accident happened along I-20 westbound by the Georgia Welcome Center.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, the victim was operating a Jeep SUV eastbound in the westbound traffic lanes of I-20 when he collided with a barrier and then finally stopped in front of the Georgia Welcome Center. The motor vehicle accident caused another accident along the I-20 Washington Road exit.
No autopsy will be performed, the coroner's office said. The accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement.
