One Tragically Killed, Two Hospitalized After Wrong-way Accident on Highway 441 in Eaton, Georgia
EATONTON, GEORGIA - A news report on 13wmaz.com states that one person was tragically killed, two were transferred to a local area hospital after an accident on U.S. 441.*
The crash occurred about 5 miles north of Eatonton, Georgia. According to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills, the head-on accident occurred at around 7:30 PM. A 51-year-old man was driving northbound along the highway toward Eatonton when his sedan collided head-on with a truck driven by a 53-year-old man and his 19-year-old son, who were traveling southbound.
Putnam County Sheriff Sills stated that the 51-year-old man was driving on the wrong side of U.S. 441 and was killed in the accident. Putnam County Sheriff Sills stated that the 51-year-old man might have suffered a medical episode that caused the accident.
The two occupants in the pickup truck were transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital with injuries. Their medical conditions are not known at this time. The accident is currently under investigation.
