Woman Dies in Auto-Pedestrian Accident in Towns County, Georgia
TOWNS COUNTY, GEORGIA - A news story published on claycountyprogress.com reports that a 22-year-old woman from Hayesville was tragically struck and killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Towns County, Georgia.*
According to the news report, the victim was trying to cross five traffic lanes on U.S. Hwy 76. The woman left the Sand Bar & Grille at approximately 11:30 PM. She was struck by a motor vehicle driving westbound on U.S. Hwy 76 and toward Blairsville. The pedestrian accident victim tragically died upon impact with the motor vehicle. The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured and isn't facing criminal charges.
According to Towns County Coroner Tamela Cooper, the lack of visibility was a key factor in the fatal pedestrian accident. Tamela Cooper also stated that the victim was dressed in black clothes, and there was no lighting from that area.
