Severe, Multi-vehicle Accident on the Downtown Connector in Atlanta
ATLANTA, GEORGIA - A news report posted in 11alive.com states that a severe motor vehicle accident has occurred on Downtown Connector in Atlanta.*
Traffic was backed up and extended from I-20 to Langford Parkway. All northbound traffic lanes on the Downtown Connector were at a standstill due to the multi-vehicle accident that involved several motor vehicles. The driver who caused the accident allegedly ran away from the accident scene.
The Georgia Department of Transportation stated that the north bound traffic lanes on I-75 and I-85 were shut down at I-20 connector. Traffic was reportedly backed up to the Langford Parkway onramp.
Atlanta Police provided an update about the crash, which occurred at around 9:30 PM and involved several motor vehicles. Police stated that the driver of the motor vehicle who officers believe caused the accident fled the scene after escaping his vehicle and seeing law enforcement officers.
Police officers working the scene stated that they were working the accident scene as late as 11:45 PM. Police investigating the accident have not stated if they know who the hit-and-run driver is and did not provide a description of the suspect..
