Worth County Teen Tragically Dies in Tifton Accident
TIFTON, GEORGIA - A news article on walb.com reports that a Worth County High School senior tragically died in an accident that occurred in Tifton, Georgia last Saturday.* According to Tift County Deputy Coroner Joseph Thompson, the victim was a 19-year-old woman.
The Georgia State Patrol stated that their officer's were dispatched to the accident scene, which occurred at the intersection of Carpenter Road and U.S. Highway 82 at around 11:30 AM.
The news report stated that the Georgia State Patrol reported the victim was a passenger in a Jeep Renegade. The Jeep's driver was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center.
An 18-wheeler tractor-trailer truck was also involved in the accident, according to Georgia State Patrol. The truck driver was not transported to a hospital from the accident scene.
Thompson said because of the circumstances surrounding the crash, the death was reported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner. Thompson also said the body is in Macon for an autopsy.
The Georgia State Patrol stated that no criminal charges are filed or pending at this time, according to Georgia State Patrol. The GSP's SCRT team in Valdosta is managing a crash analysis.
