Tragic, Fatal Wrong-Way Accident in Lee County, Georgia

Leesburg, Georgia - A news report published on walb.com states that a woman was tragically struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver in Lee County, Georgia.* The victim tragically passed away nine days following the severe motor vehicle collision.

Georgia State Patrol Troopers stated that the alleged drunk driver was arrested on six counts, including driving under the influence, vehicle homicide, and driving on the wrong side of the road. The Georgia State patrol's accident report alleges that the suspect was heading northbound in the southbound traffic lane of U.S. 19 by Mayhaw Road. The accident scene investigator stated that the head-on collision took the life of an innocent driver. Another passenger inside the victim's car, along with another motor us were transported to a local area hospital for serious accident injuries.

The Georgia State patrol SCRT team is currently investigating the head-on collision to determine how the accident occurred and to determine if other criminal charges will be filed.
