Log Truck Accident Closes Down Hwy 80 in Effingham County, Georgia

EDEN, GA - A news article published on wsav.com reports that a multi-vehicle crash involving a log truck closed down Highway 80 close to Old River Road.* The Effingham County Sheriff's Office stated that the accident closed the area for several hours. According to the WSAV article, a log truck upturned and collided with an SUV and a pickup truck. Logs from the logging truck were thrown across the highway.

One witness stated that their neighbors heard the accident at 5:45 p.m. They raced to help those involved in the severe collision.

Accident injuries had not yet been reported. There has not been any information released concerning the accident. The Effingham County Sheriff's Office stated that deputies set up detours and urged drivers to use alternate routes. The accident is currently under investigation.
