Fatal Wrong-way Accident on I-285 in Atlanta, Georgia (GA)
ATLANTA, GA - A news article published on ajc.com states that a wrong-way driver was severely injured when his SUV crashed with a tractor-trailer truck in the northbound traffic lanes along I-285.* Atlanta police stated that the head-on accident occurred at around midnight along the northbound traffic lanes of the Perimeter in Atlanta, Georgia.
Department spokesman Officer Anthony Grant stated that the head-on accident occurred near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in Atlanta's Westside. The accident trapped the driver inside his motor vehicle.
The Atlanta police are unsure where the wrong-way driver entered the interstate or for how long he was driving in the wrong direction before crashing into the 18-wheeler. The wrong-way driver was transports to a local area hospital once the fire crews were able to extricate the man from his mangled Lexus. There has been no update to the man's medical condition.
The tractor-trailer truck driver was not hurt in the accident.
The I-285 northbound lanes were closed down for several hours as police investigated the accident and removed the motor vehicles from the accident scene. The accident is currently under investigation.
