Fatal Accident with a Georgia Power Truck Kills a Maysville Woman in Banks County, Georgia

BANKS COUNTY, GA - A news article published on states that a serious motor vehicle accident in Banks County claimed the life of a woman from Maysville, Georgia.*  The motor vehicle accident also critically injured another motorist. 

According to Georgia State Highway Patrol troopers, the 77-year-old accident victim tragically died after she pulled out into traffic and was struck by a Georgia Power truck. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 4:26 PM on May 3, 2021, at the intersection of Yonah Homer Road and Creek Street in Gainesville, Georgia. 

Georgia State Patrol Post 6 troopers from Gainesville investigated the fatal accident. The trooper's initial report states that the victim was driving in a Ford F150 and heading northbound along Greasy Creek Street, and she failed to yield after she stopped at the intersection's stop sign. The report states that she allegedly turned in front of the eastbound Georgia Power Freightliner M2 truck.

According to the Banks County firefighters, their rescue crews had to extricate the victim and her passenger from the Ford F-150 pickup. The responding EMS transported the 40-year-old passenger, who was also of Maysville, to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was listed as in critical medical condition.

The driver of the Georgia Power truck, a 26-year-old man from Athens, Georgia, was not injured in the accident. The 24-year-old Baldwin passenger in the Georgia Power truck was also uninjured. The accident is currently under investigation by the Georgia Highway Patrol.
