Student Jumps From a Walton County School District Bus Window
LOGANVILLE, GA - A news article published on waltontribune.com states that State troopers verified the report that a child jumped from a school bus window.* The incident happened at around 2:30 PM.
The Georgia State Patrol stated that an 11-year-old boy jumped from a Walton County School District bus and hit a motor vehicle passing the bus on state Route 81 by Youth-Monroe Road. The bus driver stopped in the northbound turning lane of Highway 81 when the student jumped and fell onto a pickup truck that was heading northbound and then the boy landed in the northbound lane of the highway.
The student sustained injuries considered to be life-threatening. The Walton EMS transported the boy to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
The bus did not collide with the pickup truck.
Assistant Chief Craig League of Walton County Fire Rescue stated that Highway 81 was reopened after about an hour. The accident is currently under investigation.
