Garbage Truck Accident at the Intersection of Wheeler and Marks Church in Augusta, Georgia

The garbage truck accident injured one person and shut down the traffic lanes for several hours.* The accident occurred approximately 7:30 in the morning at an intersection in Augusta, Georgia. According to the news report, the location of the accident was at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Marks Church Road.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office stated that a Precision Waste garbage truck was heading westbound along Wheeler Road by Marks Church Road. At the same time, a car was heading northbound along Marks Church Road.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputies' accident report, the garbage truck driver had tun a red light causing a severe collision with a car and then overturned. The car's driver was transported to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment of accident-related injuries.
At approximately 8 AM, the damaged car was loaded onto a tow truck. The traffic accident shut down a left turn lane. The accident is currently under investigaiton.
