Fatal Accident Involving CARTA Bus on Dorchester Road in Dorchester County in South Carolina
DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC - A news story published on counton2.com reports that two people were tragically killed following a serious Thursday night accident involving a CARTA bus on Dorchester Road near Patriot Lane.*
South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian Lee stated that a 2014 Toyota Corolla was heading westbound along Dorchester Road when it crossed the road's median and collided head-on with a 2016 Kia Optima at around 7:00 PM. South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Lee stated that the Toyota then collided with a CARTA bus and then colled over in the roadway.
According to the news article, Kia's driver and passenger tragically died as a result of the injuries they received in the accident. Dorchester Road was closed down for hours while South Carolina Highway Patrol and Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) investigated and cleared the accident site. The roadway was then reopened about 11 hours later.
The Toyota's driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Dorchester County Coroner's Office will release the names of the victims.
The motor vehicle accident is currently under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office also responded to the crash.
