Fatal Intersection Accident Intersection of McAfee Road and Chandler Road in DeKalb County, Georgia
DeKalb County, Georgia - A news report published on ajc.com states that a 60-year-old man was tragically killed with an SUV trying to elude law enforcement after an attempted traffic stop on the suspect crashed into the victims Toyota Camry.* The suspect was fling law enforcement due to a supposed seatbelt violation but now is facing homicide charges and other criminal charges related to the accident that tragically killed the Toyota's driver.
According to the news report, the 60-year-old man was waiting for his turn to make a left-hand turn at the intersection of McAfee Road and Chandler Road. According to the Georgia Highway Patrol, the Nissan crashed into the Toyota Camry, which could be described as a T-bone accident.
Initially, the Nissan rogue was pulled over along I 20 eastbound prior to the suspect speeding away and exiting the interstate onto Glenwood Avenue, according to the Atlanta Journal N Constitution. The driver of the rogue then turned onto Chandler Road, where he attempted to speed through parking close by the McAfee Road intersection.
According to the county jail records, the suspect has been charged with several criminal charges, including felony murder, fleeing from police, first-degree vehicular homicide, speeding, reckless driving, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obstruction, and theft by receiving stolen property. The driver in the Nissan rogue was caught on surveillance video camera footage speeding through a parking lot, tilting on its side after striking a curb and then crashing into the left side of the victim's Camry on McAfee Road.
The Georgia Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident. According to county jail records, the suspect was arrested and booked into the DeKalb County Jail, where the suspect is being held without bail.
