Tragic fatal accident kills at least six on I-85 in Suwanee, Georgia

GWINTTETT COUNTY, GA - A news report published on go.com states that at least six people were tragically killed in a fiery van accident along interstate 85 in Georgia.*  According to Gwinnett County Police Sergeant Michelle Pihera, several other people were injured and the interstate accident. The accident caused the passenger van to become engulfed in flames after it had rolled over onto its side, police stated. 

The report stats that several other motorists stopped to render aid in the accident by pulling out occupants from the burning van. The location of the accident was along Interstate-85 by the I-985 split in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The accident scene was about 35 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta, Georgia. 

According to the Gwinnett County Police, the six people killed in the accident were pronounced deceased at the accident scene. Several other people were transported to local area hospitals for treatment of severe personal injuries. A bystander also suffered an injury but did not want to be transported by emergency medical services. It is not known how many people were traveling inside the van at the time of the accident. But Gwinnett County police believe that all of the van's occupants were adults. 

The Gwinnett County news release stated that further information would be provided about those injured or killed in the van accident in the next few days. Accident scene investigators are currently investigating the accident to determine the cause of the motor vehicle accident. Gwinnett County police believe that one other vehicle may have been involved in the fatal accident. 

All eyewitnesses are being urged to contact the Quinnette county police to report any tips that they may have that could help in their investigation. The accident is currently under investigation. No further information was provided in the news article.
