Fatal Pedestrian Accident at the South Skyway Fishing Pier in Manatee County

MANATEE COUNTY, FL - A news report posted on abcactionnews.com states that the Florida Highway Patrol stated that a child was struck and killed by a motor vehicle.*  The 3-year-old Bowling Green boy was fishing on the South Skyway Fishing Pier.  

At around 5 PM on Saturday, the boy was walking westbound along the pier and behind a parked vehicle.  When the child tried to cross the road on the fishing pier, he stepped into the path of a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

The boy was tragically hit and killed.  He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the Florida Highway Patrol media release stated.  a Florida Highway Patrol media release said.  

The driver, a 19-year-old man from Lutz in Hillsborough County, Florida, was driving a Chevrolet S-10.  He was not injured in the accident. The pedestrian accident remains under investigation.  According to Florida Highway Patrol, there are few details about the accident.
