Fatal Rear-end Collision on State Route 11 in Monroe, Georgia (GA)

MONROE, GA - A news article posted on waltontribune.com reports that a man from Monroe, Georgia, died following a serious motor vehicle accident on State Route 11.*  Georgia State troopers stated that the 49-year-old man tragically passed away at Piedmont Walton Hospital- 

The Georgia State Patrol answered the call to a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 5:18 PM.  The report states that a Dodge Ram was heading north along Highway 11.  The pickup truck was following a Kia Sorento too closely, and as the Kia attempted to slow down and turn right onto Pleasant Valley Road.  The Dodge pickup truck's driver then veered to the right sharply to avoid a rear-end collision but the truck began to rotate clockwise, causing the truck's left side to hit the Kia.

Georgia State Patrol Corporal Cal Barton stated that the Dodge pickup truck traveled partly onto the east shoulder and the truck overturned onto its left side.  No criminal charges were filed or are pending in the accident case.  The accident is currently under investigation.
