Tragic, Fatal Accident in Southern Fulton County, Georgia

PALMETTO, GA - A news report published on states that law enforcement officers have confirmed that a woman and a man were tragically killed in an accident that followed a high-speed police pursuit last Friday night.* The police chase began in Coweta and then continued on through Southern Fulton County. 

The Coweta County Sheriff's Office stated that that the police chase started as an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop for several traffic violations.

According to the Coweta County Sheriff's Office, the Coweta County deputies were trying to stop the car for a missing headlight and a few illegal turns. The police chase started near Weldon Road and I-85 and ended a few minutes later by Fayetteville Road and Blossom Street when the car crashed into a tree.

According to the Coweta County Sheriff's Office press release, the suspect was driving 70 mph in a 45 mph zone when the car entered Fulton County, Georgia.

Coweta County Sheriff's Office deputies stated that they lost sight of the suspect's car, and the deputies were just a short distance behind the suspect's car before the accident. The news report states that the police chase spanned 1.7 miles and lasted 1 minute and 45 seconds.

The suspect who was driving was discovered to have several warrants out of Gwinnett County, and the woman had a warrant for her arrest in Palmetto. The identities of the victims have not been released. The Georgia State Patrol is handling the fatal accident investigation.
