Three Injured in a Severe I-175 Accident in Marietta, Georgia

March 17, 2021

MARIETTA, GA - According to an online news report published on fox5atlanta.com, the Marietta Police Department stated that an individual from Acworth is being treated for life-threatening accident injuries at WellStar Kennestone Hospital following an Interstate 75 accident in Marietta, Georgia.*

The two other individuals involved in the accident were treated for accident-related injuries.  The Marietta Police had no updates concerning the status of the accident victims.  The severe motor vehicle accident occurred on Monday night.

Law enforcement officials stated that the motor vehicle accident happened along the southbound lanes of Interstate 75  at around 8:45 PM and north of the Allgood Road Bridge.  The preliminary accident investigation found that a Nissan Altima sustained an "unknown mechanical failure."  In a 2017 Tesla Model S, a motorist reduced its speed for the Nissan Altima when a Sprinter van crashed into the rear-end of the Tesla.  The Tesla had three occupants inside of the vehicle.

After the van struck the Tesla, the Telsa swerved into the left side of Interstate-75, where law enforcement officials stated the vehicle crashed into a Toyota Corolla and then came to a stop at the left barrier wall.

All three Tesla occupants were transported to a local area hospital.

Marietta police stated that the serious accident resulted in all southbound lanes' closures on Interstate-75 between the North Marietta Parkway and the Canton Road Connector.  The accident is still under investigation.
