Family Tragically Killed in an I-16 Accident in Bulloch County, Georgia

BULLOCH COUNTY, GA - A news article posted on wavy.com reports that a tragic motor vehicle accident took the life of a family of three on Interstate 16 in Bulloch County, Georgia.*

According to Jake Futch, the Bulloch County Coroner, the victims have been identified as a young couple with a small child.  One of the motor vehicle accident victims was a high school principal. 

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the motor vehicle accident happened at around 3 PM close to Mile Marker 137 on the westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 16.  Georgia State Patrol troopers stated that the victim's motor vehicle was struck from behind by a tanker semi-tractor-trailer truck that had struck another tractor-trailer truck.  Another vehicle was then struck by the second tractor-trailer truck, and then the tanker truck caught fire.

The traffic along Interstate 16 was backed up for many hours as law enforcement officers investigated the accident.  The motor vehicle accident is currently under investigation.  No criminal charges were noted in the accident report at this time.
