Tragic, Fatal Accident on GA 96 in Peach County, Georgia (GA)
PEACH COUNTY, GA - A news story on wgxa.tv reports that all lanes on GA-96 in Peach County were blocked after a car accident killed one person.*
The victim was a 58-year-old man from Jonesboro, Georiga. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 8:23 in the evening. The victim was driving his Nissan Murano and was traveling eastbound along with GA 96 by William Drive in Peach County, Georgia.
As the victim was entering a curve, the man failed to navigate the turn, departed his lane, and traveled onto the south shoulder of GA 96, then re-entered the roadway, traveling across both lanes of GA 96 and onto the north shoulder and collided with a tree with its left front.
Following the impact, the car caught on fire. The driver was tragically pronounced deceased at the accident scene. The fatal accident is currently under investigation at this time. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, all traffic lanes were blocked along Georgia Highway 96 between Campus Drive and Knoxville Street in Peach County, Georgia. The accident was investigated and then cleared by 12 a.m.
