Two People Tragically Killed in a Motor Vehicle Accident on Mike Padgett Highway in Augusta, Georgia (GA)
AUGUSTA, GA - A news story on wfxg.com reports that the Richmond County Coroner'sCoroner's Office recently released the names of two people who were tragically killed in a double fatal motor vehicle accident.*
Law enforcement officials stated that a 41-year-old man from Waynesboro was heading southbound along block 4900 of Mike Padgett Highway when his motor vehicle crossed over the center lanes and then collided head-on with a northbound motor vehicle being driven by a 39-year-old woman from Dallas, Georgia.
According to the Augusta Fire Department, their emergency crews attempted to extricate north drivers from their motor vehicles. Tragically, the drivers were pronounced deceased at the accident scene. The accident occurred at around 3:30 in the morning.
Mike Padgett Highway was shut down in the area of the accident for d two hours while law enforcement detectives conducted the investigation. All traffic lanes were opened up at around 5:30 in the morning.
The Coroner's Office stated that the two people died due to the severe injuries that they received during the accident, and no autopsy will be performed. The accident is currently under investigation.
