Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Cobb Parkway in Cobb County, Georgia

February 19, 2021

COBB COUNTY, FL - A news report published on ajc.com reports that a 56-year-old man was walking along Cobb Parkway when he was struck and killed by a motor vehicle.*  According to police, the man tragically died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

According to police, the driver attempted to swerve out of the way in order to avoid a collision with the pedestrian.  Cobb County investigators think a black Dodge Challenger was heading southbound near Jim Owens Road at around 7:20 pm.  The Dodge Challenger driver, a 17-year-old girl from Dallas, Texas, attempted to swerve while her car was in the right lane in an attempt to avoid striking another motor vehicle, according to police spokeswoman Officer Shenise Barner.  But this caused the teen's Dodge to leave the road and hit the pedestrian who was walking along the road's shoulder.

The news report states that the victim, a resident of Kennesaw, tragically passed away at the accident scene.  The pedestrian accident is currently under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.
