An Overturned 18-Wheeler Blocked I-85 in Atlanta, Georgia (GA)

ATLANTA, GA - A news story published on 11alive.com reports that a severe accident left two right lanes open along I-85 North at the Lenox Road/Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta, Georgia.*

The crash involved an overturned truck, and motorists were asked to avoid the accident area and to find alternative routes.  According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, I-85 North was reopened at around 11:30 am.  

Ice was a major issue for travelers in and around Atlanta this morning, with at least one significant road closure.  The I-20 East ramp to I-75/85 North was shut down due to ice covering the onramp and requiring cleanup by the Georgia Department of Transportation crews.

An icy patch along I-575 South near Barrett Parkway was reported, and drivers were cautioned to take alternative routes and to reduce their speeds.  Another crash caused additional issues by the airport, with a few lanes blocked along I-85 South just past Cleveland Avenue.

Another car crash likely caused by ice slowed down traffic along the Buford Spring Connector southbound, with all lines of traffic blocking the entrance at Sidney Marcus Boulevard.  Police stated that this crash caused one person to become entrapped in their motor vehicle.  First responders carefully cut the occupants out of the car, and injuries were reported.
