Child Hit-by-Car and Life-flighted to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare
BAINBRIDGE, GA - A news report published on wtxl.com reports that the Bainbridge Public Safety department stated that a woman was arrested for a DUI accident with injuries in Bainbridge, Georgia.* The pedestrian accident sent a 5-year-old boy to a local area hospital this past Wednesday evening.
According to the Bainbridge Public Safety Department report, the young child was riding his bike along the 1000 block of East Broughton Street when he was struck by a car and tragically dragged. The accident happened around 5:40 pm, and law enforcement officers were dispatched to the accident scene, where the officers found the boy lying in the road.
Bainbridge Public Safety officials stated that the officers rendered aid and tried to comfort the child until Emergency Medical Services arrived. The child was conscious and alert. The EMS crews prepared the child and the area for him to be Life-Flight transported to the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.
The accident investigation was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT). According to Bainbridge Public Safety officials, the Bainbridge Public Safety officers and the Georgia State Patrol investigators worked the accident for several hours.
The Georgia State Patrol arrested the driver and turned her over to Bainbridge Public Safety for fingerprinting and booking at the Decatur County Jail. She is charged with driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and serious injury by vehicle.
