Fatal Pedestrian Accident n Canton Highway in Forsyth County, Georgia (GA)

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA - A news article published on forsythnews.com reports that law enforcement officers with the Georgia State Patrol reported a fatal pedestrian accident on Canton Highway.*

According to Georgia State Patrol SFC Curtis Bradshaw, the victim was a 58-year-old man from Varnville, South Carolina.  The victim was attempting to cross Highway 20 from the east sidewalk when an SUV hit him.

The news report stated that the victim was wearing dark clothing, and the area of the pedestrian was trying to cross was not lit by street lights or any other lights.  After the first crash, “the pedestrian was struck and run over by several other motor vehicles.

The Georgia State Patrol Troopers are investigating the accident, and they stated that the pedestrian was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.  The driver was not intoxicated by drugs or alcohol.  At this time, no criminal charges are expected to be pressed against the driver. 

The accident stopped-up traffic in the local area for many hours on Friday night.  The highway was shut down between North Corners Parkway and Almon C. Hill Drive while law enforcement officers with the Cumming Police Department, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol worked the accident.
