Georgia College Improves Pedestrian Safety to its Campus Intersections

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA - Georgia College students have a safer walk through campus due to new safety improvements implemented at high-traffic intersections in Milledgeville, Georgia.*

According to Campus Chief of Police Brett Stanelle, the City of Milledgeville is safer for pedestrians because of the new safer crosswalk system.

Campus Chief Stanelle also stated previously that Clarke and Hancock was a standalone crosswalk that did not have any pedestrian buttons or lights. Now, pedestrians are able to cross streets in a typical manner and also diagonally, which saves time.

Georgia College students state the new safety precautions are highly appreciated. One student is happy that the city is taking action to protect public health and of the safety students. She stated that drivers sometimes don't see the students and can cause severe injuries or death. 

One Georgia College senior stated that he was impressed with the new changes and that the crosswalk system seems to work well to help drivers see pedestrians.

Georgia College officials stated that they are continuing to work with state and county officials to keep the campus safe.
