Several Injured and Tragicall Killed on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth, Texas

February 14, 2021

FORT WORTH, TX - An accident news story on  kltv.com reports that five or more people tragically lost their lives and dozens were injured in a massive multi-vehicle accident that involved 75 to 100 motor vehicles on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth, Texas.* The accident involved semitrailers, cars, and trucks, and the collision resulted in some vehicles landing on top of others.

Matt Zavadsky, with MedStar, stated that many motor vehicles were severely mangled, and multiple tow trucks were needed to disentangle this major accident.

According to the news report, thirty-six people were transported to local area hospitals, and many people sustained critical injuries. Law enforcement officers set up a reunification center for the victims' family members.

The road conditions were so slick that several of the first responders were slipping and falling down while working the accident. Crews working the accident scene keep bags of sand and salt mixture to help the ambulances enter and exit the accident scene and surround the vehicle to prevent a collision with the ambulance. One ambulance was struck and only sustained slight damage, and the crew members were uninjured.

More than two dozen motor vehicles were involved in a serious pileup along an icy highway in suburban Austin. In this accident, five people were transported to a local area hospital.

In Tennessee, law enforcement officers and emergency medical crews responded to approximately 30 traffic accidents. A few flights were delayed at Memphis International Airport as the airport experienced freezing rain and sleet.

Kentucky's Governor announced a state of emergency to open up funding and assist government agencies in coordinating efforts to resolve downed power lines and slippery roads.

Additional snowfall is expected over the next several days. The accident is currently under investigation.
