Traffic Accident on Eastbound I-20 in Grovetown, Georgia
GROVETOWN, GA - According to a news story published on wrdw.com, a four-vehicle accident caused major traffic issues along eastbound ion Interstate 20 in Grovetown, Georgia.*
The accident occurred at around 7:45 a.m. near mile marker 189 and just west of Chamblin Road. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the accident involved three cars and one truck involved in the collision.
The original report to Columbia County emergency dispatchers was a motor vehicle fire on I-20. The emergency call was quickly corrected to a traffic collision.
According to Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Major Steve Morris, the accident injuries were not life-threatening. Traffic monitoring systems showed traffic at a standstill for about one hour between Lewiston Road and Appling-Harlem road. Major Morris stated that all lanes were reopened by 9:10 in the morning.
