Tragic, Fatal Accident on Memorial Driver in DeKalb County, Georgia (GA)

January 19, 2021

According to an accident report on AJC.com, the DeKalb County Police are investigating a deadly accident that occurred on Memorial Drive near Memorial College Avenue.*

Following the accident, all of the westbound traffic lanes on Memorial Drive were closed as the DeKalb County Police investigated the fatal pedestrian accident.

The accident report stated that the victim's body was found on a road close to Memorial College Avenue and the Georgia State University Perimeter College.  The pedestrian accident happened around 7:30 in the morning.  At the scene of the accident was a pickup truck that had heavy front-end collision damage. The DeKalb County Police did not confirm that the pedestrian accident was fatal, and they did not release any other information about the accident.

According to a transit authority spokeswoman, the accident investigation briefly interrupted a MARTA bus route until the route was temporarily rerouted.  The spokeswoman stated that MARTA wasn't involved in the pedestrian accident.  The roadway was reopened a few hours later.
