Tragic, Fatal Head-on Collision on South 5th Avenue in Heidelberg Township, Pennsylvania (PA)
HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, PA - According to a traffic accident news report posted on ldnews.com, the Heidelberg Township police reports that one person was tragically killed in a head-on collision in Heidelberg Township, Pennsylvania.* The accident occurred when one driver attempted to pass a motor vehicle.
According to police statements, the vehicle moved into the oncoming traffic lane and attempted to pass the car in front of him. The driver attempting the pass then struck an oncoming car head-on causing a severe collision.
Pennsylvania State Police said the head-on accident happened at d 8:20 in the morning on South 5th Avenue close to Duquesne Drive's intersection.
Lebanon County Coroner's Office stated that the driver who was attempting to pass another vehicle was pronounced dead at the accident scene, and no other occupants were inside the vehicle.
The driver and passenger of the oncoming vehicle were transported to Hershey Medical Center to treat injuries sustained in the accident.
South 5th Avenue was shut down for several hours as law enforcement investigators administered an accident investigation. No names of the people involved in the accident were released. Law enforcement is asking anyone who has information about the accident to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at their Jonestown barracks.
