Car Accident with Injuries Occurs on Highway 41 in Smyrna, Georgia (GA)
SMYRNA, GA - According to a car accident article on 11alive.com, Smyrna Police reported that an accident with injuries shut down traffic lanes as the accident investigation took several hours to conclude.*
Smyrna Police stated that their Select Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit responded to a "serious injury crash" along Cobb Parkway (U.S. Highway 41) just south of Lake Park Drive in Smyrna, Georgia.
The accident and subsequent investigation closed down the northbound and southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway. Drivers were rerouted and directed to use South Cobb Drive or Atlanta Road to head either south or north. Eastbound and westbound traffic was diverted onto Windy Hill and Spring roads for motorists wanting to travel east or west through Smyrna.
The motor vehicle crash also obstructed both the entrance and exit of the Wyndcliff Apartment Homes at the intersection of Plumtree and Cobb parkways. Sergeant Louis Defense, a Smyrna Police spokesperson, provided intermittent updates concerning the accident scene progress and thanked the public for their patience.
The names of the people involved in the accident were not released to the public. No additional crash information was provided, and the accident is currently under investigation.
