Two Fatal Dekalb County Accidents Close Major Interstates for Several Hours
According to an online news report published on ajc.com, the DeKalb County police is currently investigating two different fatal accidents that closed down sections of I-85 and I-285 for several hours, according to authorities.*
According to the accident news report, a tractor-trailer truck, a tow truck, and two other motor vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash close to I-85 and Chamblee Tucker Road. The multi-vehicle accident occurred around 10:15 in the morning, according to Michaela Vincent who is the police spokeswoman for the DeKalb County police.
A 39-year-old Stone Mountain woman was tragically killed at the accident, according to law enforcement officials. The accident shut down five of seven lanes for about two hours. Traffic on the interstate did not start moving until around 1 p.m.
The second motor vehicle accident, happened on I-285 close to Glenwood Road. The accident involved a sports utility vehicle and a passenger car, The accident occurred around 11 a.m. in the morning.
The driver of the sports utility vehicle was tragically declared deceased following his hospitalization, according to the news report. The victim was later identified by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The fatal auto accident closed down I-285 southbound near the Glenwood Road turn, according to police.
