Two People Were Tragically Killed in a Multi-vehicle Accident on I-85 South in DeKalb County, Georgia
According to an online news report published on cbs46.com, a multi-vehicle accident shut down traffic on I-85 south at Chamblee-Tucker Road in DeKalb County, Georgia.*
The accident occurred on Monday morning. According to the DeKalb Police, Five of the seven southbound lanes on I-85 were closed as emergency crews worked the accident scene. The DeKalb Police reports that the accident happen at approximately 10:56 a.m. The multi-vehicle accident began when when a motor vehicle and utility truck crashed into each other. The motor vehicle accident then turned into a multi-vehicle, chain-reaction type of accident that involved a tractor trailer truck as other motorists could not avoid the collision.
The utility truck driver was taken to a local area hospital for emergency medical treatment of his severe injuries. The man tragically succumbed to his injuries. A female motorist was also tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene.
Law enforcement officers continue to investigate the multi-vehicle collision. The news report did not provide any information about any potential criminal charges.
