According to an on online news report published on kiro7.com, an ex-Alabama football player and Hendrick pit crew member and his wife were tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in the Florida Keys.*
The fatal motor vehicle accident happened on Tuesday night. The couple was heading to Florida for their honeymoon and celebrating their marriage in Alabama this past weekend. At the time of the accident, the couple was North Carolina residents.
The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the husband was driving northbound along U.S. 1 in the couple's Toyota Corolla. The couple tragically collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck at approximately 9:40 p.m. The collision happened on Lower Matecumbe Key, Florida. Florida State Highway Patrol Troopers asserted that the couple's car might have accidentally crossed over into the path of the Ford F-250 pickup truck, which was being operated by a 62-year-old Tennessee man.
The 62-year-old Tennessee man was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his personal injuries. The man's two passengers were seriously injured and were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The couple was tragically pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The accident is currently under investigation.
