Two People Tragically Killed in a Pickup Accident on Highway 316 in Oconee County, Georgia
According to an online news report posted on onlineathens.com, two men were tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Georgia Highway 316 in Oconee County, Georgia.*
The fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on Thursday night at approximately 6:10 p.m. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the pickup truck accident along Georgia Highway 316 in front of the Mercedes-Benz dealership located on Virgil Langford Road in Oconee County, Georgia.
According to Ed Carson, of the Oconee County Coroner's Officer, the two victims identified were discovered and released. The two victims, a 33-year-old man from Grayson and a 32-year-old man from Athens were tragically killed.
The news story states that the two men were in a 2007 Toyota pickup. The truck was traveling eastbound toward the City of Athens. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the truck allegedly left the road and went onto the road's shoulder, then moved up onto an embankment. The pickup truck then struck a tree and then overturned.
One of the men was tragically was ejected from the truck as the truck began to roll over and collided into one additional tree, per the news report. The men were tragically killed and pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The Georgia State Patrol's initial investigation leads investigators to believe that the driver was not impaired nor the other accident victim who was wearing his seatbelt during the tragic accident. The accident cause has not been determined and therefore the crash is still under investigation.
