One of the tractor-trailer driver and his passenger were tragically killed early morning on Wednesday following a collision with another tractor-trailer on I-75 north close to the 201mile marker and close to the Ga. Hwy. 36 exit.

According to Georgia State Patrol troopers who began the truck accident investigation that occurred at around 1:20 a.m. on November 11, 2020.  The Butts County Sheriff's Office contacted the Georgia State Patrol to investigate the interstate accident.

The two 18-wheeler trucks were heading north along I-75 when the two trucks collided.  The new report states that first 18-wheeler jack-knifed, move across the northbound I-75 lanes, and down the grass median, the truck overturned, and then struck the guardrail.  The people inside the truck both sustained fatal injuries from the truck accident.  The names of the decedent were not made public and that information will be held until their next of kin have been notified.

The second 18-wheeler truck left the interstate along the right side of the highway and then traveled into the woods striking many trees. The truck driver sustained several non-life threatening personal injuries and the trucker was transported by Butts Co EMS to Macon Medical. His driver's medical condition is unknown at this time.

Two other motor vehicles on I-75 hit debris from the truck that overturned. I-75 northbound was completely shut down for several hours.
